Papakura Central School operates an enrolment scheme.
The Board has determined that 9 out-of-zone places will be available for new entrant students in 2027.
Out-of-zone applications are invited for these places. Applications will be considered in accordance with the priority order set out in the Education and Training Act 2020. Priority 2 applies to siblings of current students.
Applications close: Wednesday 14 October 2026
Ballot date (if required): Wednesday 21 October 2026
If the number of applications received exceeds the number of places available, selection will be made by ballot in accordance with the enrolment scheme's requirements.
Families wishing to apply for an out-of-zone place should contact the school office for an application form and further information.
Our school uses a cohort entry system for new entrant children. This means children start school in small groups on set dates after their 5th birthday, rather than individually on their birthday.
Children cannot start school before they turn 5 and are required to be enrolled and attending school by their 6th birthday.
Starting school as part of a cohort helps children settle more easily, build friendships, and become familiar with school routines together. This supports a positive and confident transition into school life.
Papakura Central School requires cohort students to attend two transition visits to school before their cohort start date.
Cohort entry dates are set by the Ministry of Education each year - in 2026, these dates are:
Term 1: 2nd February & Week 6 - 2nd March
Term 2: 20th April & Week 7 - 2nd June
Term 3: 20th July & Week 6 - 24th August
Term 4: 12th October & Week 6 - 16th November
Students in all other age groups will start school once their enrolment documents have been completed.
